Bell Perch

history of bell aquaculture

Bell Aquaculture sits on family owned land in Albany, Indiana. Originally farmed for dairy and grain, now it houses the nation's largest yellow perch aquaculture facility. The vision for a yellow perch farm began when co-founder Michael Miller became interested in aquaculture in 1994. After studying this science and getting involved in the Indiana Aquaculture Association, he developed a dream to bring the local and personal favorite yellow perch back to the area and eventually the nation. The result of that dream is Bell's unique brand of yellow perch, Bell Perch. Now Bell is poised to be a world leader in sustainable aquaculture, providing the world's best yellow perch.

Great Technology, Pure Quality

Committed to the best technology possible - and to provide the highest quality yellow perch - Miller and team set out to create a premiere aquaculture facility. In working with experts, doing research/development and employing licensed technology from a major university, Bell has become a true vertically integrated facility. Bell Perch are nurtured from egg to full-grown fish right there at the farm. And because Bell has its own brood stock, the genetic health of the fish can be protected before new fish are even born.

Bell Perch is processed in Bell's own state-of-the-art US-FDA inspected facility. After harvest, the fish are held in coldwater, then filleted, deboned, rinsed and quick frozen within 48 hours to hold the freshness. Because of the natural low fat content, yellow perch don't lose any flavor during the freezing process.

We hope you get a chance to taste the difference of Bell Perch very soon.
